Those of you with keen observational skills will notice that some time (i.e. significantly more than twenty-four hours) has passed since my last post. I can confirm, however, that I did successfully complete the 30 Days of Videos challenge! I just didn’t quite get around to posting the last nine videos on this here blog – until now, that is! Here is my cover of a Radiohead classic. Hope you enjoy it!

Video 21 of 30: Cover of “Be My Downfall” by Del Amitri

Del Amitri are one of my favourite bands. I never tire of listening to them, and that’s largely due to Justin Currie’s ability to write amazing lyrics, such as, “Be my undoing, be my slow road to ruin”. This is one of my favourite Del Amiti songs, and I’ve been wanting to work it out for ages. (That’s one of the things I’m loving most about this challenge – it’s pushing me to learn loads of new songs!)

Video 20 of 30: Cover of “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri

Read about the 30 Days of Videos challenge here.

I’ll be honest: it bothers me that this song is a bit of a rip-off of Twenty-Four by Switchfoot. But that’s also what I like about it (because Twenty-Four is an amazing song, and any reminder of its existence makes me happy). I also think that Christina Perri’s voice is beautiful. So, although I wrestle somewhat with the Twenty-Fourness of this song, I enjoy singing and playing it. So, here is my take! (P.S. Cuan and I had the idea for a Twenty-Four/A Thousand Years mash-up before we realised that it was already a thing – gotta be quicker on the button next time! P.P.S. Apologies for the weird, stretchy appearance of this video – I upgraded iMovie and the newer version wouldn’t allow me to adjust the aspect ratio, thus confirming my suspicion that upgrading things is a terrible idea.)

Video 19 of 30: Cover of “Bubbly” by Colbie Caillat

Read about the 30 Days of Videos challenge here.

Anyone who knows me well will likely find this song choice a little ironic. “Bubbly” is probably among the list of adjectives that least describe me. But that’s okay, because in this song it’s the subject who is referred to as bubbly, not the narrator. (I fear I am further proving my original point here.) Anyway, hope you like it!
